Every Time I Remember You

Philippians 1:3-6

I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.

Isn't that a beautiful sentence: "I thank my God every time I remember you."  (1:3)

One of the things I love about the Apostle Paul is that he spoke from his heart. He could express complex theology, using his keen intellect and breath of knowledge. Yet, he was equally adept at expressing the love and joy that was deep within his heart. He let those he cherished know it. That's a good reminder for us!

Who can you say (or write) this to today: "I thank my God every time I remember you."

Another Blessing
I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.   (1:6)

Quick story.
I was 23 years old when my Mother died. During the last weeks of her life she prepared me for her passing - showing me her finances and her funeral wishes, giving away her best clothes to her closest friends, and even teaching me how to make spaghetti. These were tremendous, helpful, loving gifts to me. But even better was her blessing: "Son, you're going to have a wonderful life." I've thought of those words through good times and bad, and I've carried her blessing with me through life. That's what I hear the Apostle Paul doing for the Philippians, giving them hope and assurance.

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.

Words of blessing and hope. God's work would continue through them. They would have wonderful lives in Christ!
